A Gathering of Great Greeks

The information on this page will help you to complete the upcoming project for our unit on Ancient Greece. Make sure to follow all directions carefully!
Ancient Greece produced many of the world's most famous philosophers, writers, artists, scientists, and mathematicians. You now have the opportunity to become one of these people. Through a series of steps, you will research and then pretend you are a famous Greek. You will have the opportunity to share accomplishments with the other people gathered.
Directions
- Research the person assigned to you.
- You will begin your research using the websites indicated on the class website.
- Fill in your research on the Research Notes handout.
- Gather proper bibliographic information as you conduct your research.
- See the sample bibliography for how to format correctly.
- Type your bibliography as you find your sources and be sure to save the document often.
- You must use at least 2 different sources. Wikipedia is NOT allowed.
- Using your research, type a one page biography of your person. Follow these formatting guidelines:
- Typed
- Double-spaced
- 12 pt. font
- Use a normal font (Times New Roman, Arial, etc.)
- Include a title
- At least one page
- Share your research with the class.
- You will pretend to be the person assigned to you. Tell the class about yourself, focusing on why you are famous and what your great accomplishments are.
- You may want to create a poster that illustrates some of your accomplishments. This will be counted as extra credit.
- Extra credit will be awarded to people who wear a costume.

Grading
This assignment will count as a 100 point test grade. You will be graded using the rubric provided. You will also be evaluated using the school-wide rubric for research, writing, and oral communication.
