Ancient Greece's Got Talent

Congratulations - you have been selected to participate in the upcoming season of Ancient Greece’s Got Talent! Ancient Greece is filled with people representing a wide variety of talents – writing, playwriting, art, philosophy, poetry, science, and more. In order to be a contender in this competition, you must follow the step-by-step directions below.
Directions
- Conduct research on the Ancient Greek person you have been assigned. Research should focus on the greatest accomplishments of the person, why they were famous, what their “talent” was, etc.
- Record bibliography information using the sample as a guide.
- Complete the Ancient Greece’s Got Talent contestant application. Applications must be typed. The application can be downloaded here.
- Plan your talent presentation. It should showcase your talent in some way (dramatic reading, display of art, demonstration of scientific idea, etc.). Your presentation must also include a brief overview of who you are and why the chosen demonstration you have selected is your greatest talent. Presentations should last 3-5 minutes. You may use any props that support your talent. All contestants must wear appropriate Greek attire. You should be prepared to answer questions from the judge(s).
- Submit the completed application and bibliography on the day the competition begins.

- Wednesday, October 5 – Library/Lab Research
- Thursday, October 6 – Library/Lab Research
- Monday, October 17 – Ancient Greece’s Got Talent Competition Begins, Application/Bibliography Due
Research
In-class research will be completed in the computer lab. A list of helpful websites can be found below and on the internet links page. You may also want to utilize the books available in the school library. You must obtain proper bibliographic information for all sources used. Consult the sample provided for how to format the bibliography. Bibliographies must be typed.
